Cyprus is the ultimate venue for the perfect wedding, with many people opting to marry on ‘The Island of Love’ This is mainly due to the glorious sunshine and stunning locations giving couples the chance to fulfil their dreams at affordable prices.
It is perfectly legal for UK citizens to marry in Cyprus however before you can marry you must produce certain documents which our Wedding Planner will assist you with. Now that the UK is not officially part of the EU the criteria for marrying in Cyprus have changed and it is more important than ever to receive the guidance of our wedding planner to assist you, saving you both time and unnecessary stress.
However, a lot of people are still under the impression that you must be in Cyprus for a certain amount of time before you can get married. We can clarify that you are NOT required to be a resident in Cyprus for a minimum of three working days before your wedding day, this was an old Cypriot Law that no longer applies, although this is recommended. We do however recommend that you do arrive in Cyprus a few days prior to the wedding so that you do not feel rushed from arrival and there is enough time to submit the relevant documentation (not including weekends or bank holidays).
Once you have booked and confirmed your wedding villa and wedding date with The Villa Group, our Wedding Planner will assist you with guidance on the requirements for marrying in Cyprus when the time comes. This will be confirmed by our Wedding Planner within the appropriate time frame leading up to your big day (normally 3 months before the wedding date) so that any documentation completed will not exceed an expiry date and therefore be accepted upon your arrival to Cyprus.
Two witnesses over 18 years of age to the marriage will be required under Cypriot law, you will need to provide photocopies of their passport's photo page. In the case of just the Bride and Groom attending the ceremony please inform us and we will arrange witnesses for you.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS MUST BE TAKEN WITH YOU WHEN YOU TRAVEL. THE VILLA GROUP CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE SHOULD THE WRONG DOCUMENTATION BE PRESENTED IN CYPRUS FOLLOWING YOUR ARRIVAL.
